The coronavirus pandemic is having devastating consequences on children and their rights. For the first time in human history, an entire generation has had their education disrupted. Health systems, even in rich countries, are being overwhelmed. Economies are sliding towards depression. Countless families are falling into poverty.
To stop the spread of the virus, we have to end it everywhere. We are facing a global pandemic, which requires a global response to stop it.
Thank you for taking a stand with us in 2021 to join our fight in combatting the spread of COVID-19 around the world, and protecting a generation of children from its effects. Here are some ways you can get started:
- Join our Protect A Generation campaign to call on world leaders to protect children in Canada and around the world during the COVID-19 crisis.
- Read our ‘Save Our Education’ report to learn how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting schoolchildren around the world – we estimate that 10 million children will never return to school and the world will see increases in child marriage, extreme poverty, child labour and domestic violence.
- Try to stay home as much as possible and commit to wearing a mask while out in public. You can learn more about how to protect yourself and others here.
- Spread the message on social media that world leaders that the global pandemic needs a global response. Use the hashtag #EndCovidEverywhere and tag your local and national leaders.
