Primary Job Purpose

The Program Financial Analyst is responsible for ensuring project financial information is accurately recorded in the General Ledger. The Program Financial Analyst works with the Manager, Finance and Program Officers to ensure quality financial budgets, forecasts, and reports are prepared for donors and stakeholders.

 

Accountabilities

Financial Reporting and Analysis

    • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders including:– Variance actuals to budget report– Donor reports– Burn rate reports– Deferred revenue report

      – Partner advance account reconciliations

  • Support Program Officers in conducting variance analysis of budget to actuals to identify financial risks and flag anomalies
  • Review financial summaries for donor reports based on reporting requirements in concert with the Program Officer and Country Office
  • Support budget re-alignment and forecasting processes including review and detailed commentary of all draft budgets
  • Support the analysis and monitoring of resource allocation on a quarterly basis
  • Provide coaching, knowledge transfer, and guidance to CO Finance and Program Officer teams for financial reporting

Program Accounting

  • Working in collaboration with Country Office and Project Officers, responsible to prepare and upload a complete and accurate Fund Summary Report / Program Budgets
  • Working collaboratively with Country Office teams, consolidate field financial results, preparing journal entries as required to allocate funds in adherence to SCI and SCC data standards
  • Perform month-end close activities and ensure all reconciliations are complete, accurate, and up-to-date Prepare Program Balance Sheet reconciliations and resolve differences between Country Office/Partner project reports and General Ledger on a regular basis, including deferred revenue and project advances
  • Complete final project closeout reconciliation, adjustments, and reporting

Proposal Development Support

  • Responsible to review budgets for new proposals and amendments in partnership with Resource Development, Program Development, and Country Office teams, ensuring compliance to Award Management Guidelines

Cash Disbursement Management

  • Forecast project cash disbursement activity and schedule to support Controller in ensuring sufficient funds are available to meet SCC obligations
  • Confirm cash disbursements and intercompany transfer payments (IPCO) for project funding

Audits

  • Lead planning, preparation and pre-audit review for successful execution of SCI and donor audits
  • Complete required analysis, financial statements, and documentation for the annual external audit

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting / Finance / Business
  • Accounting professional designation in-progress (CPA,CGA,CMA) is desirable
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in project finance and accounting
  • Knowledge of GAAP and Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations
  • Previous experience in non-profit sector in multicurrency environment preferred
  • Superior financial analysis skills, with intermediate to advanced level expertise in MS Excel
  • Detail-oriented to accurately record and monitor financial information
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to develop strong working relationships across cultural and organizational boundaries with internal and external stakeholders, and managing through influence
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, effectively prioritizing tasks
  • A proactive self-starter with a positive attitude
  • Strong team player to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
  • Strong English verbal and written skills; proficiency in French/Spanish/Arabic considered an asset

 

Other Requirements

  • Adhere to Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding policy and protocols
  • Police check vulnerable sector screening
