Primary Job Purpose This position plays a lead role in increasing public awareness of and familiarity with Save the Children, our mission, mandate and our work. The Digital Communications Officer works with the National Senior Manager, Communications & PR and the Communications Officer to ensure effective online, digital, and social media communication about Save the Children. The following represent accountabilities for this position. These accountabilities are to serve as a basis for developing annual work plans for the incumbent. Accountabilities
  1.  Social Media:
    • Working with the National Senior Manager, Communications & PR develop and execute a social strategy, social content and editorial calendar;
    • Post created or curated content within social channels to ensure an interactive, two-way social media conversation between Save the Children and its audiences, while ensuring that responses and postings are accurate and reflect Save the Children’s policies on child safeguarding, information sharing and branding guidelines and standards;
    • Supports the Senior Manager, Mass Marketing, with the smooth integration of the Digital Acquisition Program into Save the Children’s broader social media editorial calendar.
  2. Digital collateral design and development:
    • Design and produce digital fundraising and marketing materials (ie. newsletters, emails, eNews, etc.) and support the production process in-house and in collaboration with external stakeholders including vendors and global communications colleagues  to ensure accurate and timely production of digital collateral that reflects Save the Children’s branding guidelines and standards.
  3.  Digital Support:
    • Provide digital support to Marketing, Relational Fundraising, HR, Advocacy and Program team members through the implementation of digital analytics tools based on the digital communications strategy;
    • Lead digital acquisition, SEM, SEO and mobile campaigns based on marketing strategy to ensure Save the Children’s digital communications adhere to its branding guidelines and standards while ensuring the most appropriate digital focus. The strategy should reflect Save the Children’s digital reality, while incorporating measures for its expanded growth and overall organizational goals.
  4. Website Maintenance: 
    • Maintain and update website (current BlackBaud NetCommunity), upload content into the Content Management System and manage technical support to ensure the website is as up to date and accurate as possible, while adhering to Save the Children branding standards and guidelines.
  5. Data Analysis and Reporting: 
    • Distill a combination of different datasets (web, social and media) to create compelling reports outlining key learnings, as well as meaningful implications and actionable recommendations to help achieve overall organizational goals while reflecting Save the Children’s branding guidelines and standards.
  6. Internal Communications:  
    • Ensure adherence to Save the Children International communication standards and ensure quality and consistent use by employees, volunteers and stakeholders in their digital interactions with Save the Children.
  Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree required, preferably in Communications, Social Media or Journalism
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in related field
  • Experience with website content management systems (Blackbaud Net Community, Raisin, Wordpress)
  • Proficient in front end development and HTML
  • Extensive experience with social media management (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIN, YouTube and Instagram)
  • Experience with online acquisition (Adwords) and reporting tools (Facebook Insights, Google Analytics, Twitter Analytics)
  • Knowledge of website and social media best practices, AODA and CASL
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite 5 (Photoshop, InDesign) Experience building and maintaining internal and external partnerships and relationships
  Other Requirements
  • Exceptional and demonstrable written and oral communications skills in all mediums
  • Work effectively, independently and with others
  • Adaptability and flexibility to adjust to multiple and conflicting priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends as required (especially during global humanitarian emergencies involving different time zones)
  • Bilingual (English & French) - oral, reading and writing preferred, with other languages considered an asset
  • Demonstrate strong commitment to Save the Children’s Mission, Vision and Values
  • Adhere to Child Safeguarding policies & procedures
  • Subject to police background check : vulnerable sector screening
  • Valid passport and ability to travel to national and international locations on occasional basis
  • Proficiency in English required
