As Save the Children marks its 100th year as a global children’s rights organization, two new members are joining the Canadian Board of Directors, to help guide the organization’s ambitious goals to reach every last child.

Erin Bury, the Managing Director of Eighty-Eight Agency, a creative communications agency, is joining the board, bringing with her a wealth of digital and marketing experience. Erin is a Financial Post columnist, CTV tech commentator and has appeared in several publications including The New York Times, CNN and Canadian Business. She was also named one of Marketing Magazine’s ‘Top 30, Under 30’ in 2012.

Jennifer Gillivan is also joining Save the Children’s board. Jennifer is the President and CEO of the IWK Health Centre Foundation, which supports the IWK Health Centre providing primary and specialized care for women, children, youth and families in the Maritimes. Before joining the Foundation, Jennifer worked for fourteen years at the CBC at the regional and national level and, has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Halifax Business Person of the Year Award.

Both women assume their positions on Tuesday January 22, 2019.

They join current board members, Richard Stursberg (Chair), David Masse (Co-Vice Chair), Myrna Alexander (Co-Vice Chair), David Rozee (Treasurer), Jean Teillet, Dan Mills, Kenn Richard, Lauren Snyder-Gault, Steve Yuzpe and The Honourable Myra A. Freeman.

This group of passionate child rights defenders help to steer the organization’s strategic vision and 2030 ambition of ensuring all children survive, are protected from harm and have the opportunity to learn, no matter where they are in the world. Save the Children’s board positions are voluntary.

“We are incredibly lucky to have these two women joining our team! Jennifer Gillivan’s wealth of fundraising and public engagement knowledge will help us to educate more Canadians about how together we can advance children’s rights, including right here in Canada. In addition, Erin Bury brings years of experience as an avant-garde thinker in the digital marketing and communication space, which is essential for our ambition to engage more Canadians creatively online. I’m delighted to welcome Erin and Jennifer to the Board; I know, that much like Save the Children, they are committed to reaching every last child.” – Richard Stursberg, Chair of the Board of Directors, Save the Children
