Save the Children statement on Canada’s G7 announcement

Danny Glenwright, president and CEO, Save the Children, said:

Save the Children – ‘COVAX pledges welcome, but urgent work still needed to make access truly global’

Toronto, 2 June - We welcome pledges totalling US$2.4 billion at today’s One World Protected AMC replenishment summit - bringing total pledges to the COVAX AMC to US$ 9.6 billion. This was alongside commitments re-distribute 54 million vaccine doses. This is an important step towards ensuring all countries have access to COVID-19 vaccines, so they can protect their most vulnerable and at-risk populations.

Statement: Canada Can and Must Share Vaccines Now, says Canadian Civil Society

To reduce the grossly imbalanced distribution of vaccines globally and put an end to COVID everywhere, Canada must join other wealthy countries in donating doses through COVAX. For every 10 Canadians who can access a dose, start sharing 1 dose with frontline health workers and vulnerable people in lower-income countries — now, not later.
