20 million people in parts of Africa and Yemen are on the brink of starvation. That represents more than the population of Canada’s 13 capital cities, and Ottawa, combined.

Cities across the country will show their support tonight for the Humanitarian Coalition’s Stop Famine Together campaign by lighting up their monuments in red.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also showed his support for the Famine Relief Fund on social media, helping to encourage Canadians to donate before the government’s matched giving ends on June 30th.

We are asking Canadians to donate and help bring life-saving aid to women, children and men affected by this crisis.

Canadians have only 5 days remaining to make a donation and take advantage of the Government of Canada’s matching fund.

We have spokespersons available for interviews who can talk about this “Red Alert” and the situation on the ground in the countries affected, and why it’s important Canadians support this campaign.

The members of the Humanitarian Coalition work together to reduce unnecessary competition, better educate the public on humanitarian needs, increase the impact of Canadian humanitarian responses and reduce administrative costs. Collectively, they are present in 150 countries.
