(June 30th, 2009) In a little over 1-year, Save the Children has mounted one of the largest and most effective emergency responses in its history. We have successfully delivered assistance on a large scale helping 137,000 children get back into school; providing 40,000 families with cash grants to re-start their livelihoods; and, assisting 60,000 people with drinking water during the dry season. Overall, Save the Children has provided direct assistance to approximately 620,000 people including a quarter of all children seriously impacted by Cyclone Nargis.
