Campaigning for Change
Save the Children encourages its supporters to participate in campaigns that focus on a particular issue affecting children. Campaigns can involve any or all of the following activities:
- Public speaking (at events, marches, via petitions, conferences, etc)
- Fundraising (either through individually organized event, or via appeals on Save the Children's web site)
- Letter writing or personal discussion with decision makers in Canada to change policies and practices, locally and globally, that affect children. Many of the problems faced by children will only be eradicated with political support or new legislation. Save the Children campaigns for long-term change in addition to providing shorter-term support to improve children's lives.
As an independent and global organization, Save the Children has a powerful voice in campaigning for change, and a track record of success. Join Our Current Campaigns:| | Every year, almost 9 million children die before they reach their fifth birthday, mostly from preventable causes like pneumonia, diarrhea, malaria and under-nutrition. Save the Children's campaign aims to reduce this number by 2/3 by 2015. To do this EVERY ONE needs to:- INSPIRE through the efforts of Save the Children and our international partners, 60 million people worldwide to take action!
- MOBILIZE a minimum 10,000 Canadians to demand government action in time for G8/G20 in June
- HELP Canadians understand that the preventable deaths of children must not be the status quo...no matter where they live
- Hold our government ACCOUNTABLE - we must meet our commitments in the Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5
- Give Canadians TOOLS so that together we can build the EVERY ONE Movement

| Rewrite the Future was launched in 2006 as the first global campaign involving all 28 members of the Save the Children Alliance. More than 32 million children around the world can't go to school because they live in countries affected by armed conflict. There are 77 million children out of school worldwide and millions more are receiving a substandard education. Save the Children is working with many governments and international agencies to put policies and resources in place to provide quality education for these children. Through this campaign we intend to bring education and hope to those millions of children affected by conflict.
